There was a time when the “fashion Gods” over at GQ, I only quoted this because although I try not to use the word God lightly I needed to make an obvious point, said never to wear black shoes “only for weddings and funerals”. Adam Rapoport in an episode of GQ Style featuring Domenico Vacca discuss brown shoes and how black shoes are ‘easy’ and in another episode Glen O’Brien, who I love, was totally against black shoes too. This was about a year ago, back when buying brogues was all new to me (I primarily wore Jordan’s and Nike’s) so I agreed, nodded my head in consent and proceeded to listened. Sticking to the rule of wearing only different shades of brown given to me by Domenico, I later realized brown didn’t suit me well and also stupid, the advice I mean.
Fashion magazines always talk about how one should develop style, not follow trends and break “the rules”, but here’s the thing, by telling us black shoes are strictly for, and I again I will quote Mr. Vacca, “only for weddings and funerals” you are limiting people in a way one can’t be literally black and white minimalistic. Also Hypocritical. After my neon colored shoe phase has passed I started to appreciate the simpler things in fashion, such as the fitted white button down or the camel trench. The look I love is a cropped trouser complemented by a pair of Florsheim black brogue, just like how Thom Browne would do it. Think about how ‘that look’ would come out with a pair of brown loafers or wing tip… not as simple and clean in comparison to the black pair eyy?  <— Rhetorical question.

She seems to be around 7 years old, just a few more years till she becomes fluent at deceiving others to believe in a lie.  A few more years until she stops laughing at things in which she finds funny today.  A few more years until she has her first taste at stress, but until then, keep on smiling.
We ‘adults’ laugh in average of 15 times a day, while a child like her will laugh nearly 300 times a day, what has changed from 7, 17 to 37?  It seems like with every generation that passes, children grow up faster.  Girls are quick to try on their mothers lipstick and boys are too embarrassed to ride with the tricycle attached to their Mongoose bike.
Life is too short to stop enjoying our time and not laughing.  The small things in life are truly remarkable, so stop frowning and start showing your teeth in laughter.

Curran J.  This is a man of true style in which he can mix it up from suits to varsity jackets and still look sharper than a kitchen knife.  From full on Brooks Brother Black Fleece suit on one day to a high crop, Kangol hat wearing man the next.
NYFW F/W 12’ was the first time I met this gentleman and what really brought us together is the love for fashion and our difference in personality, we clicked not at ‘first sight’, but during a Blogger Night Out event.  We were among purses and lipstick, floating in a sea of shoes.. us, well we were the few suits and ties.  Being 2 out of 6 men at this event we just started talking and really got to know each other, learning about each others blog.  Being that we both have love for fashion and photography it was only right to show love on my blog and Tumblr.
This guy, for the lack of better words, is cool.

People have a distorted perception of fashion and or style, like a woman wearing something straight out of an Elle magazine and not feeling comfortable in it.  Garment are just clothes, like skin over our flesh.  If we as human beings, people with emotion, can not freely express ourselves, like a man who won’t smile just because he’s in a bespoke suit and has to live up to the American Psycho character is just foolish.
Looking at this photo, I not only want you to see the beauty that model Xiao possesses, but instead understand she is wearing an over sized knit sweater and she feels comfortable and confident enough to smile and laugh with photographers and editors.  She is herself and not just a woman wearing a costume.
Who do you think will feel more uncomfortable, Anna Wintour in Xiaos clothes or Xiao in Anna’s clothes?  I would say Anna in Xiao’s clothes.
Think about what I’m saying here.

Eva Marcille of America’s Top Model graces the concrete steps of Lincoln Center during NYFW.
I love that she understands us photographers and knows how she wants to portray herself through the photographs.  Eva is very beautiful and we know her personality through all her T.V presence, yet there is still something very mysterious about her.

Xiao Wen Ju.  She is my favorite model this season becase she is very cute, but posses the ability to ‘become’ eccentrically sexy.
The first time I met her was on Fashion Ave, New York last year.  She came out of a building where a lot of models go in and out from, especially during fashion week.  As she comes out the revolving doors, the first thing I notice is her petite frame covered by a over sized olive green parka.  She seemed lost and asked me where a certain location was, I didn’t know.  Her English wasn’t perfect, but I had a hint that she was scheduled for a casting within the hour.
After that moment, I saw her a few times again and also in editorials and countless advertisements.  I had no idea she was a ‘big’ time model.
Besides our lack of communication, I understand that she is genuine and really sweet as a person.  Best of luck to you Xiao!

The eccentric soul of his style presents itself even through the smallest detail. His choice of orange socks adds a little extra pop and ties the sophisticatedly loud Cole Haan brogues together; almost like a pre-introduction if you will. This shoe belongs to the one and only Joshua Kissi of Street Etiquette.

As I find myself leaving backstage of a show, I forget which designer, I bump into a beautiful light skinned lassie as she smokes a fag with her model companion. As I walk by we lock eyes, she smiles as she breathes out a light fog of smoke. She held something, not physically but metaphorically. Maybe it’s the high cheeked beauty or the sexiness that was oozing out of her pores, but I was drawn in and determined to take a photo.
Looking at this photo now, I feel like I captured the moment and her attitude spot on and I don’t want to toot my own horn here, but I’m fuckin’ great! LOL! jk.
