People have a distorted perception of fashion and or style, like a woman wearing something straight out of an Elle magazine and not feeling comfortable in it.  Garment are just clothes, like skin over our flesh.  If we as human beings, people with emotion, can not freely express ourselves, like a man who won’t smile just because he’s in a bespoke suit and has to live up to the American Psycho character is just foolish. Looking at this photo, I not only want you to see the beauty that model Xiao possesses, but instead understand she is wearing an over sized knit sweater and she feels comfortable and confident enough to smile and laugh with photographers and editors.  She is herself and not just a woman wearing a costume. Who do you think will feel more uncomfortable, Anna Wintour in Xiaos clothes or Xiao in Anna’s clothes?  I would say Anna in Xiao’s clothes. Think about what I’m saying here. Eva Marcille of America’s Top Model graces the concrete steps of Lincoln Center during NYFW. I love that she understands us photographers and knows how she wants to portray herself through the photographs.  Eva is very beautiful and we know her personality through all her T.V presence, yet there is still something very mysterious about her. Xiao Wen Ju.  She is my favorite model this season becase she is very cute, but posses the ability to ‘become’ eccentrically sexy.  The first time I met her was on Fashion Ave, New York last year.  She came out of a building where a lot of models go in and out from, especially during fashion week.  As she comes out the revolving doors, the first thing I notice is her petite frame covered by a over sized olive green parka.  She seemed lost and asked me where a certain location was, I didn’t know.  Her English wasn’t perfect, but I had a hint that she was scheduled for a casting within the hour. After that moment, I saw her a few times again and also in editorials and countless advertisements.  I had no idea she was a ‘big’ time model.
